The short version

WattCost does not ask you to create an account and does not collect your name, email address or any other personal detail unless you choose to email us. The calculators run entirely in your browser — the state, wattage and usage figures you enter are never transmitted to us or stored anywhere.

The site does use third-party advertising and analytics, and those services set cookies. That is described in full below.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, our hosting provider records standard server logs — IP address, browser type, referring page and time of request — for security and operational purposes. We do not use these logs to identify individuals.

Advertising cookies

This site is funded by advertising served through Google AdSense.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand which pages are read and how people arrive. It sets cookies and reports aggregate usage. We do not use it to identify individual visitors, and we do not combine analytics data with any other data.

You can prevent Google Analytics collecting data with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

Your rights in the EU, UK and California

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of personal data held about you, and to object to processing. Because we hold no account data, in practice this concerns the cookies described above, which you can clear or block in your browser at any time.

If you are a California resident, the CCPA gives you the right to know what personal information is collected and to request its deletion. We do not sell personal information.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
